A staple in the West Berkshire area for over 40 years, Acclaim Motor School is run by Martin Caswell, a DVSA Grade ‘A’ Approved Driving Instructor.

Martin is also the author of the book ‘Learn To Drive…an Easier Way’, and has won a number of awards, including:

Having taught in London, Cornwall, Devon, and Belfast, Martin soon settled in West Berkshire to start teaching in Thatcham, Newbury, and the surrounding local areas. As well as teaching new drivers, Martin also has experience:

• Training people to become driving instructors
• Teaching Advanced Driving
• Racing Ford Mexicos at Brands Hatch
• Teaching skid-control to motor racing students, the London Ambulance service and Metropolitan Police as well as anti hijack techniques to Embassy staff
• Driving all over the world, including in the USA, Denmark, Belgium, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Poland, Switzerland, and more

Our mission
Our mission is to give learners the tools to drive confidently and safely when they’re out on the road on their own. This means more than just teaching you how to pass the driving test, but how to ‘Drive’ safely and competently and all that this entails. We give you the opportunity to drive in all types of road conditions and help you learn all the skills you need – even the ones you won’t be tested on.

Once you pass your driving test, you’ll feel confident in your driving skills and able to handle any challenge you face on the road, without risk of endangering yourself or other road users.

As well as having decades of experience teaching learners of all levels to drive, Martin has also published a highly-regarded book to assist with the experience; ‘Learn To Drive… An Easier Way’. This book was written to help simplify the different aspects of learning to drive and illustrate ways to make seemingly complex processes simple.

Driving lessons
We see everyone we teach as an individual, which means we tailor every lesson to your needs, experience, and skill level. When you learn to drive with Martin, you’ll feel at ease in a calm, encouraging environment. If you’re struggling to get the hang of a certain manoeuvre, no need to fret, Martin has a number of techniques to help you understand or visualise how to approach things.

You will be learning to drive in a modern Toyota Yaris equipped with dual-controls, instructor’s rear-view mirror, fully height-adjustable seat, adjustable telescopic steering wheel, air conditioning, reversing camera, Sat-Nav, and front & rear facing dash cam to recap on any lesson incidents.
