Get up to speed with a Pass Plus course

The Pass Plus is a DSA initiative that was developed alongside leading insurance companies to improve road safety. Designed in particular for young and new drivers, the Pass Plus encourages safer driving by providing newly qualified drivers with the opportunity to gain more experience – and in turn, save money on their car insurance premiums. 

What to expect from the Pass Plus

The Pass Plus consists of six training sessions where you’ll be taught more advanced driving – including motorway driving and driving into (and through) London. 

There’s no test to take at the end of this course – once you have completed all six sessions and have demonstrated you understand the course content, we’ll send these details to the Driving Standards Agency. The DSA will then send you a certificate along with a list of participating insurance companies who will offer you an additional discount on your motor insurance premium (up to 30%, and in some cases over 45%). 

The cost of the complete Pass Plus course of six lessons is £270.00. If you have already taken a motorway session with Acclaim and then take the Pass Plus course at a later date, the cost of the motorway session will be deducted from the course fee.

The savings you could see

A newly qualified 19 year old driver from Thatcham who had just bought a 4 year old car saved £480.00 on his car insurance for the year by completing the Pass Plus course. 

Another 19 year old driver bought a Ford Focus and was quoted £2,500 for his car insurance. After he took the Pass Plus course, the insurance company reduced his premium to £1,000 – a saving of £1,500.
