Manual to automatic transmission

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to give you a quick update and advanced notice on some changes happening at Acclaim Motor School this autumn.

As you know, I’ve been teaching more on a brand new 2021 – Toyota Yaris hybrid – automatic car since May of this year. The car industry is changing, and more manufacturers are producing automatic only vehicles (with automatic cars outselling manual cars for the first time in the UK), with petrol and diesel cars being phased out by 2030.

Automatic cars are the way of the future and are kinder to the environment. Due to this, I wanted to give you plenty of notice that I will soon be teaching on the automatic car only from Monday 25th October 2021.

This means I will no longer be providing driving lessons on the manual car from this date.

If you’re currently learning on the manual and would be interested in learning with me on my automatic car instead, we can change your lessons to start learning on the automatic from this date (or sooner) instead. If you’re unsure how you feel about driving an automatic, I’d be happy to provide some time for you to try out driving the automatic car before you make your decision.

However, if you’d prefer to continue learning on the manual, I can still provide lessons for this until this date in October, and I can also recommend reputable local manual instructors who you can book in lessons with in plenty of time.

If you continue learning on a manual car elsewhere and decide you’d like to return to learn with me later on, I’d be more than happy to welcome you back on the automatic car.

If you choose to continue learning on manual and either start learning elsewhere right away or from 25th October and you have remaining lessons in credit with me, I can provide you a no-quibble refund for any credit left.

It’s, of course, your choice what you would like to do going forward. I’d recommend considering trying the automatic car, as it can be quicker and easier to learn to drive, and cost you less in driving lessons overall. You can also find some more benefits of driving automatic  here:

I appreciate your understanding and hope you continue to have a great experience learning to drive, whether that’s with myself or another local instructor.

Please feel free to ask me any questions or talk about any concerns you may have.

Kind regards,
